20 week ultrasound next week

Next Thursday, April 7th (also my 28th birthday) we have the 20 week ultrasound scheduled. Jacob and I are going by ourselves so we can decide at the last minute if we want to know what the baby is. I REALLY didn't want to find out but as most of you know, I'm not good at secrets or surprises and now I think I want to know. I just think that if it does turn out to be a girl, I would wish that I had found out before so she could come home to cute girl stuff. Jacob told me this morning that he thinks it's a girl, he said he just has a "gut feeling". My gut feeling is that it's another boy. I guess we will see...

Jakes 9 month check up & shots...Poor Baby!!

This morning I had to take Jake for his 9 month check-up and shots. He has cried every time he has gotten shots in the past but not like this. I felt horrible!! To make things worse, he held on to me with a death grip when I tried to lay him down and then I had to hold him still so she could stick him in both legs. I vote that Dr's visits which require shots are going to be daddy's job from now on!! or...Jake probably won't be getting shots anymore! I just can't do it. He weighs 19.15 pounds and is 29" long. Both in the 50 percentile. However, his head measured 18.5" and is in the 75 percentile! The Dr didn't believe the nurse measured right so she did it again herself and yep...it was right. Just means that my baby has a big brain! :) As for him not crawling, she said it isn't because he isn't capable, he is just lazy! He was bouncing like usual and she said he definitely has the strength to be crawling and possibly walking.

Now I know why they say pregnant women shouldn't ride horses!

This weekend a friend of ours offered to let me ride his horse for a little while. I totally trusted the horse to not do anything more than walk down the road so I agreed. That's exactly what we did. Nothing crazy at all.

However, today my whole body feels like a was riding a bull all weekend.

My new BFF only lasted about 5 minutes...

Yesterday on the trailride my super sweet nephew, Trace, was riding beside me and once again this pregnancy is fasinating to him. He always has something funny or cute to say.

We were riding and he looks at me and asked..."Alisha, are you 18 or 19 years old?"

Me: "I'm 27 years old" Wondering where we were going with this...

Trace: "No way, you only look like you are 18 or 19!"

Me: "Trace you are my new best friend!"

He looked a little confused.

So we kept riding and he didn't have much to say which most of us know, isn't like Trace to not have something to talk about.

Then out of nowhere...

Trace: "Your baby belly SURE is starting to come on out!"

So needless to say, he wasn't my best friend for very long.

First Injection Today

I got my first injection of the 17P series today at lunch. My friend, Tisha, is going to be giving them to me every Tuesday for the next 20 weeks. I was VERY nervous because after showing her the medicine, she told me that the shots were going to hurt because the medicine is oil-based and VERY thick. GREAT...I HATE needles/shots and now I knew that it was going to hurt before she did it. The medicine is so thick that they have to inject 1 ml over 45 seconds to a minute. I guess I had prepared myself for the worst because although it was a shot and it did sting, it wasn't as bad as I expected.
1 week down...19 more to go!

What happens when Daddys are in charge of getting boys dressed...

The other morning Jacob was off work so I gave him "Jake Duty" for the morning. One of the things he was in charge of was getting him dressed for daycare. Off they went and about 10 minutes later, here is what they had accomplished...

Jeans, Boots, Chaps and A Cowboy Hat!

While he did look VERY cute and we were going to the Rodeo that afternoon, he looked a little uncomfortable for just going to daycare.

So off Jake and I went to change his clothes. Poor Jacob thought he had done an awesome job! I probably should have let him wear it but I couldn't bend his legs in those chaps.

Like Father Like Son!

Thank you to anyone that has tried to say Jake looks like me to make me feel better, but the pictures below tell the truth!
Jake looks EXACTLY like Jacob did as a baby.

Jakes 1st Trip to the Rodeo

Last night Jacob and I took Jake for his first trip to the Houston Rodeo. We were worried that he wouldn't be content in his stroller but he did VERY good. We all had a really good time walking around and Jake loved the petting zoo. He wanted the animals to come to him and then he would pull their hair, much like he does Sadie. Poor Sadie when he starts walking!!
